Crowd Funds to Improve Your Game Night

WE’RE BACK! After a temporary hiatus (translation: I got bored of everything that was being crowdfunded at the time), Kickin’ Starters is BACK and we have found more amazing things for you to spend your money on. ‘Tis the season for online shopping, which is probably how I ended up back here, but let’s get back into looking at my favourite finds for this week!

Hells bells, this looks SO cool. UGears has created ridiculously awesome looking items for games, including: a dice tower, a card holder, a DM screen, a deck box, and what they are calling a dice keeper, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a really pretty dice jail. All of which are unique in their own ways, like how the dice tower is completely modular which means you can play around with the design of your tower. Great for people like me who have ADD and just need to needlessly rearrange things while I’m playing. Actually, this is probably something I SHOULDN’T own for this reason. I’m personally a huge fan of Broken Token and this reminds me SO much of their game organizers, except just so much more intricate, and for more generic table top use. It looks like it all snaps together pretty easily, and there’s some cool attempts at staining done, so definitely something you could personalize further if you felt like it.

Something I definitely need to own: that DM screen. Totally customizeable, so it’s great for people who run different game systems, and it comes with it’s own dice tower as well. It’s gorgeous. It really is. Hint hint, nudge nudge, if anyone is shopping for me for Christmas.

There’s less than a week to go and it’s KILLED it’s goal, so go get these gorgeous things!

How is this NOT a really pretty dice jail? You tell me.

UGH MORE PRETTY THINGS. So this time it’s just really pretty tabletop terrain that is MAGNETIZED. If you’ve got anything going on in a city like setting, and have a need for temples or cathedrals, this is definitely what you need. I feel like this is an architect’s dream – there’s just so much detail in the pieces.

I think the only downside to this one is it’s so specific. Yes, I’m drawn in by the magnetized pieces, but most of my games are in more fantasy settings, and this feels more like if I’m running something in an Assassin’s Creed TTRPG. Does that even exist? Probably, who am I kidding. But unless I’m going to be doing a lot of temple running, it’s a little hard to be able to use this set regularly. That being said, if you run a lot of different campaigns, it might be useful to add to your collection!

One of my favourite parts is the add ons – specifically the FLOORS!! Holy crap, that’s just so neat, to be able to add a floor to an area. There’s 11 days left, and admittedly, I just want to keep looking at it. Someone buy it so I can look at it.

If we haven’t already learned, I’m a sucker for anything pretty. Which means this Tarot deck falls RIGHT into the category of things Natalie likes. The simplistic nature of the design is just so impactful. I feel like you could use this in any game to also screw with your players a bit – add a fortune telling aspect to it.

I also love that one of the pledge options is post cards of the cards, so even if you don’t need the cards themselves, you can still enjoy the art.

Now, this KS has 20 days to go – seems like a lot, right? And they’re more than half way to their goal. But I’ve learned that even though this looks likely, chances are a) that might not be their actual goal – it’s just the most basic funding they need to attain to do anything (but still could lose money) and b) since they haven’t hit their goal yet, they’ve lost momentum and might not be able to pick it up again to really hit their targets. SO, if you love this, you need to share the heck out of it and back it. ASAP. So they can build momentum again. I’ve learned a lot of weird things about crowdfunding lately, so it’s given me a new perspective on this entire blog series. And is probably why I’ve picked up writing it again.

And that’s it for this week! I’m back to writing this probably weekly – we’ll see how it goes. If you like what we found, GO BACK IT NOW. Don’t forget – you’re just PLEDGING, you’re not spending the money until the campaign closes. Find any other cool crowdfunds? Share with us online @chaoticrogueent on Twitter or drop us an email!
