MAP – Most Adorable Projects!

Welcome to Kickin’ Starters – my excuse to go through crowdfunding campaigns and dream about owning it all. This week, I found some super cute products that have me squeeing!

Hexagon Dice Bag

Holy crap, I love these. I found them while scrolling through Twitter the other day, and I’ve been madly in love with them (and whoever is running their Twitter!) since. If you haven’t learned this yet, I’m a sucker for dice. I love dice. It’s an addiction. I should probably see someone about it. But I digress – I love dice. When I first started this addiction, I had no way to keep them. I was a little too picky to go with a standard bag and instead relied on a gift I received. Eventually bought a bag by a wonderful local artist, but I’ve reached a point where that bag is full, and I don’t have another bag to put my dice in. But as I mentioned, I’m super particular about my bag – it needs to be cute, a decent size, and durable (as I literally throw it on the table when I come in). This dice bag seems to hit ALL the points.

The colours available are all gorgeous. It’s made from a high quality PU leather (which, if you’re like me and had to google what that meant, it’s a type of material made with split leather backing and covered with a polyurethane layer – so while it’s not real leather, it’s man made, it looks pretty darn close to it). And based on the images, it looks like it can fit a few sets of dice. It comes with a detachable leather strap, which I personally need as lanyards are the only way I find my keys in my bag, so I feel like the dice bag could suffer the same fate otherwise. And there are these cool metal decals too!

I did not realize dragons have horns!

And better yet – there’s a pledge level that makes it COME WITH DICE!! Because obviously you always need more.

It’s just recently kicked off, but I get the feeling it’s going to get funded in a short time. Cute, functional dice bags are definitely something we need more of in this world, so this was a definite favourite this week.

Acute Paranoia

Alright so this expansion is not what I would call an “adorable” project. But it is acute.

*cue drums*

I’ll show myself out.

Anyways – I went to Gen-Con last year and had the privilege of meeting James Wallis, a game designer who worked on the terrifying and hilarious rebooted edition of Paranoia role-playing game. I also had the chance to play the game on the Terrible Warriors podcast a while back. So when I saw that there was an expansion coming out for this game that I’ve definitely learned to love (in a very love-hate sort of way), I got really excited. While James is not working on it this time around, it seems there are some excellent minds behind the expansion. They basically created a box filled with some great add-ons to make sure the opportunities for catching treasonous troubleshooters is never-ending. Certain to bring bucketloads of more fun to your Paranoia game, and as you know, fun is mandatory!

(… if you don’t get that joke, please go play the game. I promise you, the feeling of horror eventually subsides.)

They’ve ANNIHILATED their goal within a few days and while it doesn’t come cheap (and also comes from the UK), it’s definitely worth looking into.

Herbaceous Sprouts

I saw this game last week and if I didn’t have such a good time I would’ve thrown in it too. The art for this is simply adorable, as is the overall concept – basically, you are collecting seeds, using tools, and growing sprouts to become the Head Gardner. Simple as that. Also, no one should be surprised that this is a dice game.

This Kickstarter is BRILLIANT in that they’ve already got a “How to Play” video uploaded. They’ve also got some great KS exclusives, including expansions to the game and other games by the same designers that are similar to it as well. My favourite part of this adorable game? The fact that they are guaranteeing to backers that they will receive it before Mother’s Day 2019. Who knew that you could use KickStarter to get gifts? I mean, I have, but it’s always a crapshoot. So the guarantee is fantastic and is such a cute selling point. These guys know what they’re doing.

That’s all for this week! What have you backed lately? Share it with us in the comments or on twitter @chaoticrogueentertainment #kickinstarters
