Kickin’ Your Game Nights Up a Notch

Welcome to Kickin’ Starters – my love letter to crowdfunding campaigns that I wish I could afford. This week, my faves include items that really just step up the level of your regular game nights – totally worth the investment!

The Puzzle Coaster

These are just really pretty. I’m a sucker for woodwork (I’m a sucker for a lot of things if we haven’t noticed), and both just the design and craftsmanship of this is awesome. I want these for my game room table. Also, they absorb water, which is the biggest issue I have with some of my current coasters, as I’ve nearly broken things due to condensation. It’s already fully funded, and with only a few more days to go, you should get on this one while it lasts!

Dice Dungeon

Alright, so as previously mentioned, sucker for dice (among other things), and admittedly, I got drawn in by the word “waffle”. Alas, no sweet confections here – just a really neat game system.

Dice Dungeon is a two player game where you effectively create your way through a dungeon, using dice and a “waffle” board. Yup. That’s it. It’s cute, it’s simple, I love the aesthetic personally as well. Great way to go dungeon diving without needing an adventurer’s pack!

This Kickstarter is out of the UK, so if you’re not based there, keep in mind shipping prices might be more than you’re willing to pay. Hopefully, we’ll see it in a few of our FLGS in a year or two instead. It has 3 more weeks left in this campaign, but it’s a promising find.

Hero Book

My fave for this week is another wonderful tool for RPGs – the HeroBook. It’s basically my D&D notebook had a child with the PHB, and that child was on steroids (okay but actually, children shouldn’t be on steroids – there’s an obligatory “Don’t do drugs, kids” needed here). There’s an erasable surface, rules cheat sheet, and inspiration to boot. Why wasn’t this included last week with the other books? No idea, I spaced on remembering to include this one. But this baby is gorgeous and looks just so sturdy. Which means it’s doing WAY better than my current notebook which is dying a slow and painful death, despite being only a third of the way through it.

This campaign is ALMOST DONE so jump on that ship NOW. Or sometime over the long weekend. Perhaps after your regular D&D session after you look at your beaten up notebook and character sheet, longing for something better. Better known to me as Monday morning.

So those are my faves for this week! Get these cool projects to level up your gaming nights! Have you seen anything cool on KS or IG lately? Share it with us in the comments or on twitter @chaoticrogueentertainment #kickinstarters

Natalie Wallace is one of the lead nerds behind Chaotic Rogue Entertainment. She harbors a strange love of stabbing her teammates (in RPGs) and spends her spare time listening to OTHER people stab their teammates (… still in RPGs).
